Raleigh, N.C. — The thunderstorms that lit the night late Sunday were the second downpour to douse the Triangle in a wet weekend.
Rocky Mount saw more than 3 inches of rain while the total at Raleigh-Durham International Airport topped an inch. Some customers of Progress Energy in Cary, Raleigh and Garner briefly lost power Sunday night, the utility said.
The sudden storms yielded to sunny, drier weather Monday, and the next chance for rain comes at the end of the week.
Highs through the week should be right at the normal mark of 90 degrees, but the humidity should be a bit less oppressive, WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said.
