Hurricane Irene recovery: How to give
Hurricane Irene caused flooding that forced thousands of people from their homes. Many have no resources to rebuild.
You can donate to the North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund, American Red Cross, Salvation Army and other organizations offering relief.
Now is the time to help your neighbors to the east in any way that you can.
North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund
Distributing money to volunteer groups that work on long-term recovery efforts, such as repairing and rebuilding homes.

- Mail check donations to N.C. Disaster Relief Fund, 20312 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC, 27612.
Donated funds are for recovery efforts only and are not used for administrative purposes.
American Red Cross
- To donate by phone, call 1-800-RED CROSS or text REDCROSS to 90999 for a $10 donation.
- To donate online, visit the American Red Cross website.

Salvation Army

Catholic Charities
Providing immediate help with food provision due to power outages. For longer term needs, Catholic Charities provides assessment and case management to support continued recovery.

Samaritan’s Purse
Samaritan's Purse teams and equipment are working in coastal North Carolina to help victims of Hurricane Irene by providing free debris removal services. Staff and volunteers are removing downed trees and assisting homeowners with other debris removal services, along with making emergency roof repairs.
