The Run-Through

Now we know we can do it!   A few weeks ago I decided I'd like to do a run-through of the entire triathlon.   I've never done one before and realized that a lot of time can be saved during the transitions from swim to bike and bike to run.   I wanted to test out my plan and see what it felt like to do the whole thing.   I have 6 friends who are participating with me including my training partner Shelly.  I was very excited about doing it.   We all gathered about 5:30pm on Friday at Finley YMCA in north Raleigh.   The ladies working at the front desk were incredibly helpful.   Not all of us are members and they bent over backward to help us make our run-through go smoothly.

I was happy with the way it went.  It was fun to have so many of us out their practicing.  My swim went well and I had my fastest swim time yet.   My transition from swim to bike went smoothly.  Of course it wasn't exactly like race day but we tried to simulate as best we could.   The bike route has about 20 turns and is rather hilly.   It was tough to follow the course but on race day it will be well marked.

The run/bike transition is pretty simple.   Trying to run after biking was challenging!   My run time was really slow.   For the next two weeks I'd like to concentrate on doing some bike/run bricks.    I did one on Sunday but it was 87 degrees!   Not a good idea.

Shelly and I are hoping to do a swim/bike brick sometime this week.   We have less than 3 weeks to go!
