Wet Leaves

Posted Updated

Boy...this is looking like a tough weekend.    This is typically such a beautiful time of year in North Carolina.   This weekend a front comes through and we'll see rain across the state.    It will be wet mainly on Saturday in the mountains and mainly on Sunday at the coast.   Around central NC we'll be stuck with a little of both.    If you are headed toward the mountains the leaves are beginning to change in the highest elevations.  The peak is typically in the third week of October so there is still plenty of time for heading to the mountains for leaf peeping.   This weekend highs will be in the 60s to low 70s with showers on Saturday and mostly cloudy skies on Sunday with similar temps.  This is also a beautiful time of year at the coast.   Saturday will be quite warm on the coast with temperatures in the Wilmington area nearing 90.   Highs along the outer banks in the low 80s.  Windy conditions with SW winds 10-20kts gusting to 30.   Rain doesn't roll in until mid-late afternoon on Saturday.   A front will stall along the coast on Sunday bringing showers for much of the day.   Around the triangle skies will become cloudy on Saturday with a few scattered showers.  It will remain warm and breezy with highs in the low 80s.  Sunday the front will be to our east.  That means cooler temps with highs in the low 70s and some scattered showers through about mid-day Sunday.
