During September and October we have some of the best weather of the entire year in the Triangle. The heat is gone but it's still warm. We have low humidity and lots of sunshine. It's a great time for outdoor activities and a great time to head to the beach.
September is one of my favorite months at the coast. It's not too hot but the water is still warm. Right now ocean temps are in the low 70s to near 80 degrees which is still nice for swimming. That's the difference in May and September. The temperatures are similar but the water is much colder in May! You can get some good deals on lodging at the coast too after Labor Day.
So for this weekend my getaway pick would certainly be the beach. It's been cloudy there much of this week but over the weekend expect sunny skies and highs in the mid 80s.
By the middle of October it's time to head west. Leaves start changing in the mountains by early in October and they're beginning to peak by the middle of the month. Keep checking back here for leaf looking updates.
