Take an Easter Bath

I love history and,being from North Carolina originally, I really love North Carolina history. So when I was trying to think of a destination for Easter weekend, I thought the state's oldest church would be a great place to visit.

I love history and,being from North Carolina originally, I really love North Carolina history. So when I was trying to think of a destination for Easter weekend, I thought the state's oldest church would be a great place to visit.

St. Thomas Church in Bath was built in 1734, and services are still held there. Their website announces Easter services at 8 and 10 am. The church features two-foot-thick solid brick walls, and it originally had floor tiles laid in sand so that burials could be made under the church floor. There is also a cemetary with centuries-old gravestones.

After church, take a stroll around Bath. It is a beautiful place, rich with history. It's NC's oldest town founded in 1705. Bath has a gorgeous waterfront just off the Pamlico River. It was once the home of Blackbeard the Pirate.

Bath can be done as a day trip and if you decide to go on Sunday we'll have mostly sunny skies. It will be chilly in the morning with lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs in the upper 60s so just a light sweater may be all you need over those easter dresses. The breeze will be cool out of the NE at 5-10.
