We have a weather radio. We live in Moore County, but when the radio alarm goes off, the warnings are rarely for our County...they are often for Bladen and Cumberland Counties. Is there a setting we need to adjust?

MIKE MOSS SAYS:      Pat,    I'm assuming you have a radio that includes the SAME (Specific Area Message Encoding) feature, which is required in order to filter warnings so that the radio only sounds an alert if your county is covered.

If that is the case, you will want to check to see what FIPS (Federal Information Processing Standards) codes are programmed in your radio. In order to receive only alerts for Moore County, you'll need it to be programmed only for code 037125.

Anyone else wishing to look up county codes for central NC can find them at
