If you've stepped outside since walking the dog or getting the paper this morning, you've probably noticed a change in the air. The dew point temperature -- a measure of how much water vapor is in the air -- has shot up since this morning. At 5 a.m., it was 47°F... at 11 a.m., it was 60°F. That's a sign that those gusty winds are bringing moisture into the area
With all the warm, moist air in place, we have a risk for seeing some severe weather this afternoon. Any storms that do fire this afternoon have the possiblity of doing some wind damage or producing some large hail, especially south and east of the Triangle. The best shot of seeing this rough weather is in the extreme southeastern corner of the state, along with northern parts of South Carolina.
