Weather

My ears are not perfect anymore, but I often keep hearing your WRAL weather staff referred to in the recorded intros, and sometimes live comments as "meteologists", rather than "meteorologists". Are my ears deceiving me, or is this some new shorthand term?

MIKE MOSS SAYS:      Victor,     That must make us sound like people who specialize in the study of steak! I'm not sure where the "or" is disappearing to there, but I'm quite sure there isn't any intentional change to the traditional pronunciation as a form of shorthand. Maybe we're just talking a little too fast sometimes. I can attest that there are days when for no good reason it's harder than others to clearly enunciate the word "meteorologist!"
