Are hurricanes and typhoons the same thing? If not, which is stronger?

MIKE MOSS SAYS:       Taylor,     Typhoons and hurricanes are the same kind of weather disturbance. In both cases, these are tropical cyclones having maximum sustained wind speeds of at least 74 mph. They simply go by different names in different regions of the world.
