A Sleeper Forecast

Posted Updated

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ....Whoops! I think I fell asleep in the Weather Center. Ok all jokes aside the weather today was quite quiet and a snoozer for us who like interesting weather. It looks like our weather will remain calm through Wednesday.

Thursday and Friday are a different story.

The jet stream pattern takes on an unusual shape as we head towards the end of the work week and into the weekend. The GFS model wants to develop a cut off low and carry it through the Mississippi Valley late Thursday into Friday and the weekend. It's proximity to us Thursday and Friday should increase the odds that we will see showers and storms. By Saturday the upper level low shrinks and shifts south over the lower Mississippi Valley. By that time our winds aloft shift from southwesterly to northwesterly and drier and perhaps cooler air should invade the state. This pattern should dry out our atmosphere and allow for a great weekend!!

Ozone Forecast for Tuesday is:

CODE YELLOW for the Triangle
CODE GREEN for Fayetteville
CODE GREEN for Rocky Mount
