Teen-free!
One of the stranger post titles you may see here, but it's a reflection of this winter (Dec - Feb) at the RDU airport. One of our viewers wrote in to point out that they couldn't remember a previous winter in which we never saw temperatures dip into the teens at RDU before this one. That prompted a little checking on our part, and surprisingly, at least to me, upon scanning their databases our colleagues at the State Climate Office verified that this is indeed the first winter on record, since observations began at the airport in late 1948, that has ended up completely "teen-less." It's worth pointing out that it was a very close shave, as our lowest temperatures each month in the winter were 20, 21, and 20 degrees respectively for Dec, Jan, and Feb, but a notable meteorological oddity for that location all the same.
