It's Snowing!!

Yes it has been snowing most nights this winter in the NC mountains. I hear people talking about how sorry they feel for our ski resorts because there hasn't been much snow. Well, there may not be much on the ground but there is plenty on the slopes.

Yes it has been snowing most nights this winter in the NC mountains.

I hear people talking about how sorry they feel for our ski resorts because there hasn't been much snow. Well, there may not be much on the ground but there is plenty on the slopes.

This is going to sound a bit like a commercial for the ski resorts but I have to take up for them I guess because I love the sport.

I have mixed feelings about this winter. Personally, I love highs in the 70s but I'm a snow lover too. What I hate about our winters is the days when highs are in the mid-upper 30s and it's cloudy and rainy. I just wish on those days the temps would drop 5 degrees and it would snow! So I just love the fact that even when it's too warm around here you can drive to the mountains and find at least a little snow.

As long as temps fall below freezing the snow guns are roaring in mystical-sounding towns like Banner Elk, Mars Hill and Maggie Valley. I just checked this morning and all our NC resorts have a good covering of snow on their slopes. I do recommend checking conditions on the Ski Southeast webcams before you make the drive.
