Weather ideal for day of service

Monday's forecast, in fact, that for the entire week, offers a relief from recent chill and damp.

"If you want to get out this morning for a run or to walk the dog, you should find temperatures very nice for that," WRAL meteorologist Mike Moss said.

Temperatures only dipped into the 40s Sunday night and Monday morning. They will climb into the 50s by noon Monday under mostly clear skies.

"High pressure southwest of the area should dominate to leave us with bright skies to start the week. We'll see a lot of sun in the afternoon," Moss said.

Some periodic high clouds will be present Tuesday and Wednesday, and those days will vary between party cloudy and mostly sunny, topping out near 60 degrees.

"We're looking at generally a dry air mass, " Moss said.

"A disturbance passes by to our north Wednesday, and the models suggest some isolated sprinkles, especially along the North Carolina-Virginia border, but most of us stay dry."

Temperatures trend a little cooler toward the end of the week. Thursday's forecast high is only 50 degrees and the high on Friday could be in the high 40s.
