CARY, N.C. — The Wake County Public School System is looking to hire full-time bus drivers for the start of traditional-calendar schools in late August.

Salaries begin at $12.55 per hour, the system said Friday in a news release. Drivers receive full-time benefits with a minimum of 30 hours of employment per week. Those benefits include annual leave and holiday pay, officials said.

Candidates must be at least 18 years old with a valid North Carolina driver's license for a minimum of two years and a clean driving record.

Qualified applicants will be scheduled to take part in state Division of Motor Vehicles training to obtain a Commercial Driver's License with P&S endorsements.

The school system has scheduled three training sessions before the start of the school year on Aug. 29, and officials said they have space for up to 50 applicants in the first class for candidates who apply by July 5.

Visit the WCPSS website to apply.
