Posted August 9, 2012

A teaching assistant at a Pikeville school was killed Tuesday when her car slammed into a house in Carteret County, authorities said Thursday.

Lisa Wilson, 52, of Goldsboro, was traveling at a high rate of speed on Old Church Road in Stella when she lost control of her car, authorities said. The car ran off the road, flipped several times and hit the side of a brick house.

Wilson worked at Northeast Elementary School, Wayne County Schools spokesman Ken Derksen said.
