Wayne County deputy, another driver injured in crash
A Wayne County deputy and another driver were injured in a crash in the 3300 block of U.S. Highway 117 Alternate around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to Highway Patrol officials.

Susan Pope Walston, 50, was driving a Dodge pickup truck on Woodview Drive and pulled out in front of Deputy Daniel Truhan's 2009 Ford Crown Victoria, authorities said.
Truhan, 47, had his emergency equipment activated and was responding to a wreck on Pikeville-Princeton Road near North West Elementary School, officials said.
Truhan suffered a broken leg and a broken arm. He was being treated at Wayne Memorial Hospital, officials said. Walston sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at Pitt Memorial Hospital.
Walston told troopers she did not see the deputy coming. She was charged with failure to yield the right of way.
Alcohol and speed were not factors in the crash, authorities said. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts, and both vehicles were destroyed in the crash, officials said.
