Water Pipe Bursts in Downtown Raleigh

A water pipe burst Wednesday in the State Department of Public Instruction Building in downtown Raleigh.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A water pipe burst Wednesday in the State Department of Public Instruction Building in downtown Raleigh.

Officials said an employee turned on the water in a sink in the sixth-floor restroom. The water began leaking from the sixth floor to the first floor.

The building, located on 301 N. Wilmington St., was temporarily evacuated, but people have since been allowed to return inside.
