A late child who had high adoration for comic book characters and larger than life heroes had a funeral full of superheroes over the weekend.

The boy, Jacob Hall, had his funeral on Oct. 5 after passing away last week when he was shot on a school playground by a 14-year-old student during a shooting in South Carolina. Hall was always a fan of superheroes and his families.

“I don’t want suits and ties. There will be a lot of children there and I don’t want it to be scary for them,” his mother said at the funeral.

Indeed, superheroes showed up at the funeral. Superman, the Power Rangers and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles all showed up. Batman even spoke.

“May a 6-year-old boy become such a part of our lives that this community shows the rest of the world what hope is all about,” the man playing Batman said.

Hall’s parents have spoken about the young boy’s loving personality well before his funeral, saying he was one youngster who lived to love and laugh.

“Jacob came into our lives six years and four months ago and changed it completely,” his family said in a statement, according to People magazine. “He showed us how to love, laugh and smile even on days we did not want to. God gave him to us and he was taken away from us by a senseless act.”
