Warrenton police chief fired

Posted October 17, 2011

— Town commissioners fired Warrenton Police Chief John Younts late Friday, Mayor Walter Gardner said Monday.

Younts was suspended earlier Friday, and the Board of Commissioners voted unanimously in an emergency meeting to terminate his employment, Gardner said.

The mayor declined to elaborate on the reason for the dismissal.

Younts had been Warrenton's police chief since spring 2007.

Sgt. Goble Lane was named interim police chief.

"not when your work for the public at the expense of tax payer dollars. The citizens of the county are his boss and as such should demand trust. This is the down side to public service, but it something anyone who works for the public should be very much awary of."
Well like I said before and I will say it again, if you want answers demand them, if its a violation of his employment rights then dont cry when he gets to sit at home while being paid by our tax dollars because we violated his rights...Then he will have it made. When you violate someones rights, you usually win BIG money...Who do you think pays that BIG money....The town money tree??? Really

I know nothing of this case nor the man, but I do know law enforcement officers are hated by many and in many cases are the "slaughtered lamb" for politics or their supervisors.

Younts is a twisted guy. He told me if I get pulled drinking and driving, I should have a fifth in my trunk. When I get pulled, take the fifth out as soon as I'm pulled, and start chugging.

When the officer gets there, tell him I had to drink because I was nervous. That way, there is no way to prove I was drunk while driving--but after driving. And there are no open container regulations for non-accessible trunks.

    Thanks Younts.

So they fired Andy. That just leaves Barney to watch the shop. Better call in the reserves, Otis and Goober.

What? You mean he did not "offer his resignation?"

If he is fired, he gets benefits

  • sammyg Oct 18, 2011

He's just a victim of circumstance...

Okay. So why would they post this story without any facts whatsoever. Okay, so he was fired. If they cannot tell me why he was fired and if it had something to do with harming the community or public, then I really don't want to see it. Geesh! Waste of space.
