— Authorities in two counties have charged a Warrenton man in the alleged rape of a 12-year-old girl.

In late March, Halifax County sheriff's deputies charged Robert Cordera Lynch, 21, with first-degree rape of a child and a probation violation. Lynch remained at large for two weeks, deputies said.

Warren County sheriff's deputies and probation officers located Lynch and arrested him last Friday.

After an investigation, Warren County sheriff's deputies also charged Lynch with first-degree rape of a child in that county. The incident involved the same 12-year-old girl, investigators said.

Lynch was being held in the Halifax County Jail Tuesday under a $300,000 bond.

According to state Department of Correction records, Lynch was convicted of driving on a revoked license in Halifax County in May 2007 and of assault with a deadly weapon in Warren County in October 2008. He was sentenced to probation in both cases.

"Probation obviously works..yeah right.put them all in prison where they belong."

That's a fine attitude to have until you need the system to work for YOU (or someone you know)

If he hadn't been on probation, the 12-year-old would never have been assualted. How do you feel now, Judge?

Probation, huh? October '08 was just 6 months ago. Why do we even bother having a probation system? Ya know, I'm going to have to work 'til May 29th of this year JUST to pay all my taxes. Meanwhile, even after these guys are caught, charged, indicted, and convicted of multiple felonies by unanimous juries of their peers, probation is all that protects me and my family from them?

The day we no longer can (or will) protect the most innocent of our society (our children), is the day we've lost the republic. I truly fear that day has arrived.

HMMMM... and perhaps that if the alleged rapist of the 4 YEAR OLD had a higher bond, and was held, he may not repeat. Obviously, this guy was let off (with other offenses on his record!) and NOW they decide to get tough. Only in America. Guess it's a go wrong once, shame on you, twice shame on me, three times.... shame on WHO?!! There shouldn't be a second, much less a third!! God help our nation....

Aside from the insidiousness of his crime with this child...I have to ask the question: Where are the parents of this 12 year old girl during all this? He "got to her" TWICE???
    Where is Mommy and Daddy????

Warren County did NOT charge him with rape. He was picked up on a probation violation and later turned over to Halifax County. Who got this so wrong?

Probation for a very dangerous guy?
    This stinks!

sentenced to probation for raping a child. yep, that's our judicial system at work. change the laws, make them stricter and tougher and get rid of the lawyers who defend POS like this.
