— Warren County officials have approved four one-day furloughs for county employees to save money in a tight budget, officials said Friday.

Non-emergency workers won't be paid for March 21, April 25, May 31 and June 20 to save the county about $125,000 in salaries and benefits, officials said.

The furlough plan is only one of several cost-saving measures the county is looking at, officials said. Department heads are looking for spending cuts of 1  to 3 percent.

AGAIN GOLO, NOTHING WRONG WITH MY COMMENTS. BEING CENSORED FOR NO REASON........ THE COUNTY NEEDS TO MAKE EVERYONE PAY THEIR PROPERTY INSTEAD OF WIPING SOME OF THEM OFF THE BOOKS. THIS IS TRUE.

Why don't the great WC manager come up off some of her salary that she doesn't work for. She is a real joke.

And Warren County is a big Obama County. Maybe Johnny Williams can call him and stutter for a few minutes and get them some stimulus money to help them out.

Why the furloughs? Obama is saving us and even unemployment is "down" .1%. Everything is getting better.

ncguy, I've heard rumors of pay cuts coming.

I wonder how the water and waste treatment plants will operate with no one there. There is typically only one operator on duty. I guess they will let the operator off and use overtime to fill in for them. That makes good sense.

HMM how about they just cut salaries like the private sector?

Sampson County did this a few years ago. County workers were required to take at least 4 hours of unpaid leave per month.

Good for them. Government employees dont work hard anyway, they just take advantage of the system. Government agencies are just terrible.
