WARRENTON, N.C. — Warren County officials have approved four one-day furloughs for county employees to save money in a tight budget, officials said Friday.

Non-emergency workers won't be paid for March 21, April 25, May 31 and June 20 to save the county about $125,000 in salaries and benefits, officials said.

The furlough plan is only one of several cost-saving measures the county is looking at, officials said. Department heads are looking for spending cuts of 1  to 3 percent.
