WARRENTON, N.C. — Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that happened Saturday night in the Warren County community of Arcola.

The Warren County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday that deputies responded around 8:50 p.m. to a call for help at 2248 N.C. Highway 43, near Warrenton, where they found the body of Daniel Perez Martinez, 31, in his bedroom.

Witnesses reported that two men entered through the back of the home, hit one of the three people living there in the head with a gun and then shot Perez, authorities said.

Investigators did not provide a description of the two men or speculate on a possible motive for the shooting.

The sheriff's office also said that Martinez lived next to Arcola Lumber Co., where he worked, but it wasn't clear if investigators think that factored into the crime.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Warren County Sheriff's Office at 252-257-3364, or send an email to eagleeye@vance.net. Callers can also submit tips through an anonymous tip line at 252-257-1356.
