Warren Co. business owner charged with check fraud

— Halifax County detectives arrested a Warren County business owner Tuesday and charged her with passing bad checks.

Wanda Hewlin Rudd, 44, of Hollister, is the owner and operator of Rudd Property Development Inc. in Warren County.

According to detectives, Rudd wrote worthless checks in the amounts of $36,600 and $73,200 in late 2007.

Rudd was released on $50,000 bond.

    It's beyond me how someone would accept a check that size without verifying it to start with. Doesn't matter who writes it...for that amount, I would be calling to find out if it's good. Know what I mean?

    Rudd was released on $50,000 bond.

    I hope the check she gave was good.
