Warrants: Raleigh shooting stemmed from drug deal gone wrong

Raleigh, N.C. — Search warrants returned in the case of an Aug. 1 murder in Raleigh show a witness to the crime described it as a drug deal gone wrong.
A witness told police that Taheem Ivory Lassiter, 21, set up a sale of marijuana from an apartment on Pebble Beach Drive in Raleigh. While Lassiter was talking to his prospective customers, the witness said, they struggled and a gunshot rang out.
Lassiter died later that night at WakeMed of a gunshot wound.
Raleigh police arrested three people in connection with Lassiter's death. Xzavier Dawu Murrell, 19, Cresyan Tyrek Scurlock, 18, and Eric Lamont Dillard, 19, are charged with murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.
In a search of Dillard's car, police seized a semi-automatic pistol, a shoulder holster, two magazines and two cell phones.
