— A Raleigh man killed outside a Knightdale home last month was looking for the house of an acquaintance when he was shot, according to a search warrant released Tuesday.

Curtis Ray Lee, 24, of 4613 Hidden Hollow Lane in Knightdale, is charged with murder in the April 20 death of James Anthony Williams.

Investigators determined that Williams, 21, was looking for another address on Hidden Hollow Lane, according to an affidavit for a warrant to search Lee's belongings. He spotted a gold-colored car in Lee's driveway and thought he had found the right house since his acquaintance previously owned a gold-colored vehicle, the affidavit states.

Lee called 911 to report the shooting and to tell authorities where to find the rifle he had used, authorities said.

He is being held without bond at the Wake County jail.

"This is the culminaiton of all of the stories where murderers were not charged because the court of public opinion decided that the killer was protecting his property - like the guy in Apex who chased the teenagers who broke into his garage and shot them in the back... killing one.

Wow. Talk about jumping to conclusions without facts.

I don't like how WRAL is framing this story when so much information is missing. Let's hear more before we convict in the court of public opinion.

I am not sure about what I just read. This particular set of events should not have been aired. Very, very confusing and not at all informative.

This whole story smells. I read over the previous stories and the suspect is the one that called the police. he stated he shot someone during an altercation at his home and left the gun in the house. Which is what the police found when they got there. The victim died at Wake Med. did he provide all the additional information before he passed away. What part are we missing?

I agree, this story is incredibly unclear.

This is awful and whats so serious to hunt someone down & kill them! Someone lost their life because some jackbooty went to the wrong address. No excuse for taking a life. Now he should get life.
