RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh man killed outside a Knightdale home last month was looking for the house of an acquaintance when he was shot, according to a search warrant released Tuesday.

Curtis Ray Lee, 24, of 4613 Hidden Hollow Lane in Knightdale, is charged with murder in the April 20 death of James Anthony Williams.

Investigators determined that Williams, 21, was looking for another address on Hidden Hollow Lane, according to an affidavit for a warrant to search Lee's belongings. He spotted a gold-colored car in Lee's driveway and thought he had found the right house since his acquaintance previously owned a gold-colored vehicle, the affidavit states.

Lee called 911 to report the shooting and to tell authorities where to find the rifle he had used, authorities said.

He is being held without bond at the Wake County jail.
