— A Zebulon man was arrested Tuesday after attacking a coworker with a riding mower.

According to a warrant, James McPherson assaulted Dale Wiggins with a Toro riding lawn mower on Louisburg Road in Raleigh Tuesday morning.

Wiggins’ right foot was seriously injured in the incident, authorities said.

McPherson, 43, of 313 East Vance Street, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. He was being held at the Wake County Jail under $75,000 bond.

Both McPherson and Wiggins work for a lawn maintenance company. Authorities did not say what led to the assault.

McPherson was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday morning.
