— The state Highway Patrol issued an arrest warrant Wednesday for a Durham man in connection with a weekend hit-and-run wreck that killed two people.

Tanilo Rosales-Figueroa, 19, of 1304 Mockingbird Lane, is charged with felony hit-and-run resulting in serious injury or death. He wasn't in custody Wednesday.

Rosales-Figueroa is the owner of a 1995 green Chevrolet Blazer that was involved in a wreck on U.S. Highway 70 in southeastern Durham early Saturday, the state Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said that the Blazer and a Ford Taurus station wagon were racing on the highway where it merges with Miami Boulevard, east of Pleasant Drive. The Taurus slowed down and was struck from behind by the Blazer, troopers said.

The impact caused the Taurus to run off the right side of the road and crash into a tree. Timothy Parrish Jr., 24, and Bryant Keith Mitchell, 37, died at the scene.

The Blazer didn't stop following the crash, troopers said.  The vehicle was recovered Sunday evening.

Anyone with information on Rosales-Figueroa's whereabouts is asked to call the state Highway Patrol at 1-800-662-7956.

The very sad thing is that once this guy is caught, if he is caught, he will likely get the minimum sentence for each offense. Hit & run is a felony; death by vehicle is a MISDEMEANOR. Having experienced a similar incident with someone close to me, it is disturbing to me the nature of the sentencing. That needs to be fixed!

My condolences to the families of both victims. May you find peace, and hopefully justice soon!

At this point the families of the deceased would like the person/persons that left the scene to come forward. We want facts and we need answers. 24 yr old TJ Parrish, was the last living child of a mother who just 14 months ago lost her daughter from a brain aneurysm. 37 yr old Bryan Mitchell left behind 2 beautiful sons and a wife. They need answers, they need closure.

Golo does not want any honest discusion about illegal immigrants and deaths by vehicle. If it is not PC, it can't be posted.

That alone is one of the big problems in this country.

I have been reading these comments and just had to say something. I am a relative of one of the victims.
Please keep in mind that the media is not given complete information because this is still all under investigation. I see many statements in WRAL's coverage of this story that State Troopers tell us have not been officially determined.

bngexpress: I mentioned the exact thing as your remark, but my post got censored by GOLO. Don't know why because there was absolutely nothing wrong with my post.

These people always run when they find themselves in an accident. Hopefully the officer will have him soon.

I wonder if he was driving while intoxicated?

You do not have to be a legal citizen to steal or purchase a drivers license. They make em every day and sell for pretty cheap prices.

Go to any college campus or any village of illegals and buy them all day long. As far as insurance, people leave their registration cards in their autmobiles all the time.

Have you looked for your registration lately? have you left your car unlocked lately.

So easy, a child could take care of the necessary documents.

And when they are caught, what do you think happens to these folks. They pay their bond, get outta jail, and are never found again. Way too easy.
