Durham, N.C. — The state Highway Patrol issued an arrest warrant Wednesday for a Durham man in connection with a weekend hit-and-run wreck that killed two people.
Tanilo Rosales-Figueroa, 19, of 1304 Mockingbird Lane, is charged with felony hit-and-run resulting in serious injury or death. He wasn't in custody Wednesday.
Rosales-Figueroa is the owner of a 1995 green Chevrolet Blazer that was involved in a wreck on U.S. Highway 70 in southeastern Durham early Saturday, the state Highway Patrol said.
Troopers said that the Blazer and a Ford Taurus station wagon were racing on the highway where it merges with Miami Boulevard, east of Pleasant Drive. The Taurus slowed down and was struck from behind by the Blazer, troopers said.
The impact caused the Taurus to run off the right side of the road and crash into a tree. Timothy Parrish Jr., 24, and Bryant Keith Mitchell, 37, died at the scene.
The Blazer didn't stop following the crash, troopers said. The vehicle was recovered Sunday evening.
Anyone with information on Rosales-Figueroa's whereabouts is asked to call the state Highway Patrol at 1-800-662-7956.
