— Fuquay-Varina police believe that illicit drug use might have caused the death of a woman whose grandson found her and her husband unresponsive Aug. 9, according to a search warrant released Friday.

The warrant says that a 7-year-old boy called 911, saying that he couldn't wake his grandparents at their apartment at 205 E. Ransom St. Police found Nancy Williams dead next to the kitchen stove and Leander Zane Williams lying on the couch, according to the warrant.

Nancy Williams was pronounced dead, while Leander Williams was hospitalized at WakeMed Cary.

Relatives told police the couple had a history of illicit drug use, the warrant says.

Police searched the couple's apartment for any prescription and illicit drugs, but did not seize anything, according to the warrant. The medical examiner also requested a blood sample from Leander Williams for testing.

It is my hope that this boy take comfort in the fact that he did what he could to save the people who were supposed to take care of him.

This is so sad. May he be raised by people with fewer problems. Let the counseling begin.

Ooops!!! posted my comment on the wrong story. This was meant for the story with the realtor raped. My heart does go out to the child. I work with families to prevent abuse & neglect..and it's so sad the environments that children are raised in. This is a life altering moment in this young boys life. Hopefully he will find the love & security he needs in a nurturing home.

"My heart goes out to this woman who was just trying to earn an income. It's atrocious that this animal has been given so many chances..or gotten away with destroying so many lives...Definitely need to put him in a cage, and throw away the key!!! It's a scary world we live in!!! After the death of my youngest sister by the hands of someone trusted by society... I am no longer as nieve or trusting that if it doesn't look or act like a monster...it can't be one!! eg. Ted Bundy, and all the others.

I'm thinking you need to put this comment on the story about the real estate agent?

Too many kids are raised in this type of environment and that is why the jails are full. This poor child will be scarred by this experience. I just hope that the child can get to a good family. Most of these street thugs out robbing and killing folks would not behave as they do had they had a stable, loving, non-drug environment to grow up in. Poor parenting is at the root of nearly all of it. And I don't mean poor as the lack of financial resources. I had friends who were as poor as could be and worked their way through college but behind it all were parents or in some cases a single parent who could not help financially to any great extent with their limited means but who pushed them to be the best that they could be and kept them in line. It may sound simplistic but it works.

Glowsticks......great question. Maybe the parents and the children are in to the same thing. Grandchild should be given drug test. Who knows what he might have been given in drug stupor

    That poor poor child.

Praying they were not taking drugs leaving him holding the bag.

Praying for his poor little heart and finding them dead and unresponsive.

    God bless.
