Warm, muggy air headed back to central NC
A summer-like air mass will return to central and eastern North Carolina this weekend as temperatures slowly climb back into the low 90s, WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said.

Daytime highs will hover in the mid-80s on on the final day of the work week, but more humid air will be in place by the end of the day, marking the beginning of a shift that will linger through the next week.
"It's going to feel a bit more humid this afternoon, and we'll really start to see those dew points creep up Saturday afternoon," Gardner said. "Humidity will be rolling back in."
A stationary front in southern Virginia could produce a scattered shower or thunderstorms in counties near the Virginia border Friday afternoon, but much of the Triangle should stay dry.
On Saturday, southeastern North Carolina counties will have a better chance for rain as a moist air mass moves northward from South Carolina.
"The bulk of the area will stay dry both days, but we can't rule out an afternoon shower or storm Saturday afternoon," Gardner said.
Highs Saturday will climb into the upper 80s, and afternoon temperatures will reach the low 90s on Sunday.
The warmer pattern will continue early next week, as highs are forecast to be in the low 90s through at least Thursday.
Overnight lows will also be warmer, returning to the low 70s by the beginning of the week.
