FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Georgia woman who was wanted on multiple charges was arrested Tuesday in Fayetteville.

Dundra Sharess Merrell, 24, of Brunswick, Ga. was wanted on charges of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The charges stemmed from an incident that occurred in Brunswick on July 9. Police said that Merrell fired a weapon into a motor vehicle, striking one person inside. Merrell then fired on the responding Brunswick Police officer, authorities said.

The efforts to track down Merrell shifted to Fayetteville earlier this week, said police. She was arrested in the 2800 block of Coronada Parkway and was being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center Tuesday night.
