RALEIGH, N.C. — Hot air balloons will be racing as part of the WRAL Freedom Balloon Fest Saturday through Memorial Day near Zebulon. They will need places to land and you can help them find one.

Festival organizer Brian Hoyle said people with open space who would be fine with a balloon landing there should leave out a white sheet in the designated location. Of course, the location should be free from power lines and other obstacles.

Balloons have landed on golf courses, farms and other places.

Races will be taking place between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. near Bennett Bunn Plantation in Zebulon. While balloons will be taking off from there, they will also be traveling around the area so you never know where they are going to be flying!

Follow WRAL's Out and About on Twitter for real time updates on where you might be able to spot the balloons this weekend! We will be traveling with the crews that stay out in front of the balloons to help them find safe places to land.
