Walgreens Rewards and Coupon Policy Basics

* Must have Balance Rewards reward card to earn rewards and get sale prices

* Balance Rewards program: Earn points for qualifying purchases. Cash in points for $$ off your total purchase. 1000 points = $1 reward

* Register Rewards (RR’s) are instant rebates that print out at register after transaction.

* Cannot pay for a deal that generates a Register Reward with another Register Reward from a previous purchase from the same manufacturer

* Cannot have more coupons than products (RR’s count as coupons)

* You can “Stack” store coupons from their monthly coupon book found in stores with manufacturer’s coupons

* 2 coupons can be used on a BOGO sale

You can see more details on all these programs and policies on their website at Walgreens.com.

Wow - I did better than anticipated while using the 3 day "points booster" barcode today.

"3-Day coupon: Get 5000 reward points when you spend $25 or more between 2/9 and 2/11/14. Coupon is on front page of the ad."

The $25 threshold is after store coupons but BEFORE manufacturer's coupons (and RRs are considered MQs), so I didn't find it difficult to reach that amount, buying only items I would have purchased anyway.

If you are old enough to have an AARP card, and if you have it linked to your BR card (or remember to swipe it if you don't have it linked), spending this $25 in one transaction also earns you another 5000 BR points. I so seldom spend $25 in one transaction that I'd forgotten about this. The AARP deal is limited to once per month, which is good, because otherwise I'd be tempted to go spend another $25 at Wags and play that savings game again. ;-)
