Wakelon Elementary School in Zebulon briefly on lockdown

Posted April 8, 2014

— Wakelon Elementary School in Zebulon was on a precautionary lockdown for part of Tuesday as authorities searched the surrounding area for a suspect in a breaking and entering.

The "Code Yellow" lockdown, which was in effect from around 9:45 a.m. to 2 p.m., meant outdoor activities were suspended, and doors and windows were locked, the Wake County Public School System said.

A spokesman for the Wake County Sheriff's Office said authorities were tracking the suspect with a K-9 unit but were unable to find him.
