Through March 3, Wake Up and Read is collecting new and gently used books for babies to tweens.
The goal, this year, is to collect 110,000 books to share at 10 schools, along with community centers and child care facilities across Wake County and make sure every child in the community has an opportunity to own their own books and develop a love for reading.
I wrote about the book drive launching a couple of weeks ago. If you've been out and about, you may have seen some of the collection points. There also are some easy ways to donate to this wonderful cause online.
Here's how you can help:
- Donate new or gently used books at one of the dozens of drop off locations across Wake County. Go through your shelves and pull out the books your kids have grown out of.
- Simply purchase books online. The book drive has wish lists at Quail Ridge Books, Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
