Wake County Public School System

— The Wake County Public School System has revised its make-up schedule to reflect the latest round of winter weather that canceled classes on Monday.

Spring break remains intact for traditional-calendar schools, but the year is extended by a day. Classes will be held June 13.

Students on year-round calendars will have 3.5 hours of school on Saturdays in March.

For a complete and detailed scheduled, view the school system's website.

I got word from the school system (because I asked them the same question) and they told me that it was a make up day for the make up day on March 8th that they cancelled. My child won't be there - plans have been made for a long time for this track out and we aren't going to change them.

I get that you want what you are paying for - I want a Federal Tax refund for those 2 weeks that the Fed was closed. However, from what my kids tell me, most of the "make up days" wind up being "watch a movie days". If we happen to be in town, we will probably send ours to school, but we sure aren't going to rearrange schedules so they can go to school and watch a movie.

Shouldn't that be "Wake schools revise, not revises? Just saying.

All of these parents complaining about school make up days. I don't have kid's in the WCPS. However I fully support education. If parents aren't going to send their kids to school to make up these days can I get a refund on my taxes. The parents attitude is why I will not support any more money for schools. If they are open your kids should be there!

All of these days for traditional calendar schools should have been made up during Spring Break week - NOT at the end of the school year! Is the grading deadline being moved back as well or are all these extra days in June simply meaningless? Some of the school board members who are parents must really have some GREAT vacation trips planned for Spring Break that they simply will not do without. Absolutely ridiculous and wrong on every level.

This is ridiculous. Durham county forgave three days. WCPSS should forgive Tuesday. Do you honestly think any students (high school students anyway) will be at school on June 13th. Graduations are held starting June 10th and exams will be done. Why would you waste the money to run the busses?? How asinine.

They already have. That was the first several days of make-up. The early release days are now full days because they are counting instructional hours, rather than strictly days. All that is left is spring break and Memorial Day.

Can someone please tell me why students on Track 1 (the track that is OUT right now) just had a new day added??? I'm pretty sure that they don't need to make up a day they were already out of school for!

can't traditional calender cut out the early release days and workdays? Extending the school year doesnt do much good for high school kids who is not having graduation moved and doubtful exam schedules...
