Wake, Orange counties ranked top two healthiest in NC

Wake and Orange counties were named the healthiest in North Carolina in an annual ranking of every county in the nation.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Wake and Orange counties were named the healthiest in North Carolina in an annual ranking of every county in the nation.
The County Health Rankings report, published by the University of Wisconsin and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, ranks counties to help identify problems and ways to improvement local health. The report accounts for high school graduation rates, access to healthy food, smoking rates, obesity and teen birth rates, among others.

The report ranked all 100 North Carolina counties in two categories: health outcomes and health factors.

Health outcomes rankings are based on resident's length and quality of life. Health factors looked at health behaviors, clinical care, social and economic factors, and the physical environment.
