CARY, N.C. — In a closed-door meeting Wednesday night, the Wake County Board of Education reviewed a short list of superintendent candidates and identified four semi-finalists.

Board Chairman Keith Sutton described the four semi-finalists as “veteran educators, all working in leadership positions.”

The board has contracted with superintendent search firm McPherson and Jacobson to identify candidates for the job left open by the firing in September of Tony Tata.

Board members will interview semi-finalists next week in hopes of making a hire by July 1.
