Wake libraries kick off summer reading program Sunday

Posted May 29, 2014

Ms. Jane leads a storytime at Cameron Village Regional Library

I'll have more about the region's summer reading programs next week, but I thought I'd share that Wake County Public Library will kick off its summer reading program with events at its regional libraries on Sunday.

From 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, six regional libraries will offer face painting, crafts and activities for all ages. Each library also will offer a special event such as a magician, juggler or visit with live animals from Noah's Landing.

Wake's summer reading program includes prizes and incentives for babies to adults. There also are weekly summer programs for kindergartners to fifth graders.

The full schedule and description of Wake's programs are found on the library system's website.

These summer reading programs are a great way to get a book in your kids' hands when they are out of school. I highly recommend them.
