Wake hires firm to handle county manager search
The Wake County Board of Commissioners on Monday selected Tallahassee, Fla.-based Bob Murray and Associates to conduct a comprehensive executive search for a new county manager.
Posted — UpdatedWake County Manager David Cooke told commissioners in July that he would retire at the end of November.
Commissioners interviewed three search firms Monday before choosing Bob Murray and Associates. The company will be paid $24,000, plus expenses.
“It is a very important process, and both they and we are dedicated to finding the best candidate to keep Wake County moving in the right direction” board Chairman Joe Bryan said in a statement. “It is important that the community is engaged in the search process, and we feel confident that Bob Murray and Associates will work with us and include the public in the process of selecting the new manager."
Commissioners hope to name a replacement by the first quarter of next year.
