Wake Forest Votes Against Golf Course Purchase
The Wake Forest Town Council on Tuesday rejected a proposal to buy the Wake Forest Golf Club, which is at the center of a legal dispute between the course owner and surrounding homeowners.
Posted — UpdatedOwner Joe Young tried to sell the course two years ago to developers for a subdivision, but neighbors fought the move, saying they built their homes to be next to a golf course and that town planning documents required the land to remain a golf course.
Young offered to sell the land to the town to operate as a municipal course, but the council voted down the idea as too costly.
The legal battle could wind up before a Superior Court judge in the coming weeks.
