— Wake Forest Road between Interstate 440 and St. Albans Drive reopened Friday afternoon, hours after a car crash knocked down a utility pole.

The driver of a 2003 Mercury told Raleigh police that she was traveling northbound on Wake Forest Road when she swerved to avoid another vehicle coming over into her lane. She drove onto the curb, striking the pole, according to a wreck report.

A traffic light held up by the pole fell, striking a 2012 Toyota traveling through the Navaho Drive-Wake Forest Road intersection.

There were no reported injuries, the report stated.

The driver who hit the utility pole, Doris Marsh, was cited for a safe movement violation.

No teresabee cause that would require actual thought, something the people in charge of this cannot do.

As of the time I post this roads are still blocked. Listening to police scanner. Radioreference.com I have not heard of the person dying. I hope not.

just happened upon this intersection and what a huge CF it is! If coming from 6 forks towards 440 you MUST get off onto 440 heading towards NHills and traffic is backed up from exit to exit. all the back rds are also jammed up-St. Albans is horrible right now. Best bet to get to hospital is to come in from behind it on the back roads.

It's the biggest traffic mess I've seen in years, and I live near there.

if coming from the beltline... you can turn on navaho drive near dennys, turn right on first road, turn right at stop sign which is st albans... go straight at light at wake forest road.

or you can turn left on executive drive, and turn left on the first road which actually is executive drive, and take the back way to the hospital.

but if you're from raleigh, you should know the back ways to the hospital.

and yes, raleigh will be gridlocked from everyone taking alternative routes.

Very bad place for a crash. North Raleigh's going to be gridlocked for several hours now.
