Wake Forest's Holding Park Pool will reopen for the season Saturday after the completion of a $750,000 renovation project that includes a new diving board and slide and updated locker rooms and bathrooms.

The project included a new epoxy floor on the pool deck, which will reduce the chance of people slipping and extend the life of the structure; new pumps and filters; new tiles and depth markers; a new diving board and slide; and new ADA compliant steps, according to a Wake Forest press release. The pool shell got a fresh coat of paint and leaks were repaired.

Inside the swimming pool locker rooms, there are new lockers, tile flooring, ceiling tiles and LED lighting. Swimmers also will find new stalls, showers, water-saving fixtures and a fresh coat of paint.

The park's restroom, which is attached to the concession stand, also got a makeover with new porcelain tile walls, epoxy flooring, water-saving fixtures, new paint and a new diaper changing station.

The 50-meter pool at 133 W. Owen Ave. is among the oldest public pools in the region and one of the area's largest outdoor pools. It opened in the early 1930s. It's open for swimming to the general public, along with swim lessons and parent/toddler swim times.

Holding Park Pool will be open Saturday to Monday for the Memorial Day weekend. It will remain open on weekends only through June 6 to June 7. Beginning Saturday, June 14, the pool will be open weekdays and weekends through Sunday, Aug. 24.

Open swim times are 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. Daily admission fees are $1 for children ages 2 and under; $3 for children ages 3 to 12, and $4 for patrons ages 13 and over.

Open swim passes are available. Passes are for individuals only and may be purchased at the Wake Forest Town Hall, 301 S. Brooks St. The fee is $40 per person for Wake Forest (in-town) residents and $65 per person for non-residents.

Parent/Toddler passes are also available and may be purchased at town hall for $30 each. Parent/Toddler passes are for one parent and up to two children ages 4 and under. Parent/Toddler swim begins June 15. Swim times are Monday through Saturday from noon to 1 p.m.
