— The Board of Commissioners on Tuesday heard arguments for amending the city’s livestock ordinance, Commissioner Margaret Stinnett said.

The ordinance would allow a limited number of hens, but prohibit roosters.

Stinnett said the new ordinance will make sure chickens will not be used for commercial purposes.

Commissioners are expected to vote on the new ordinance in September.

The Chicken Lobbyists have been working Very hard lately. How many towns in the Triangle, within the last two months, have taken up the "chicken issue"? And why all the interest, from city folk, to raise chickens in the city?

Something is messed up! As I said, the Chicken Lobbyists must be hard at work.

My son raises chickens in Raleigh near Cameron Village. He raised the first one to eat. Her name was Nugget. He now raises them for eggs.

I wish I could have a coop on my 1/2 acre lot. I have fond memories as a child going out to collect eggs on my grandfather's farm for breakfast on a chilly morning.

This is a wonderful step forward for the Town of Wake Forest. It's also a great step forward for a healthier environment! Roosters aren't needed for healthy hens or eggs, so no worries about the noise! Sanford, Durham, and Cary - take note - Wake Forest is leading the way by joining other progressive cities and towns which recognize that a sustainable urban landscape includes localized food production. Don't be too slow about it, or you'll miss the boat, and be left behind!

Are there provisions for conjugal visits for the hens by a designated rooster?

Alright! Glad to hear it. Hens wont be any bother. Excellent! Okay Sanford ,time for you to come around!

I think this is an covert psyche operation to alienate Yankees and keep them from moving in. BRILLIANT!

Still cannot get the image out of my mind of driving down White Street and dodging chickens.

Also, this is pretty sexist to not allow roosters, LOL.
