WAKE FOREST, N.C. — The Wake Forest Police Department is asking for assistance in locating a missing man.

Luis Vargas Montes, 34, was last seen Aug. 15 cashing a check at a Wake Forest bank, officers said. Montes’ family reported him missing the next day.

"At this point, we don't have anything concrete to suspect foul play; we don't have anything to rule it out either," Wake Forest Police Sgt. J.R. Morris said.

Montes is described as a Hispanic male with a medium complexion, about 5-foot-5 and 150 pounds. He has short brown hair and brown eyes.

Montes' vehicle and cell phone were located Monday on Six Forks Road in the Falls Lake area, officials said.

Montes' family said he would not disappear on his own. He is the father of a 2-year-old boy.

Anyone with information regarding Montes’ whereabouts is asked to contact the Wake Forest Police Department at 919-556-9111.
