Wake Forest man arrested in fatal 1992 Illinois wreck

Posted May 27, 2010

— A Wake Forest man was arrested Wednesday and charged with reckless homicide in a 1992 wreck in Illinois.

The charge against Scott Alsip, 53, of 329 Amherst Creek Drive, was filed and a warrant issued for his arrest in 2002, according to court records.

Records state that investigators believe that Alsip was speeding and under the influence of alcohol when his 1982 Mercury rear-ended a motorcycle, "unintentionally" killing driver Terry Turban on May 7, 1992, in Lake County, Ill.

Alsip was in the Wake County jail Thursday morning under a $250,000 secured bond. He was awaiting extradition to Illinois.

colliedave - to their "limited" credit, WRAL just picks up these posts from a wire and reposts them on their site. They review AP, etc., and find stories of local interest. Better than nothing. I say limited, though, since they could TRY to expand upon the stories. But at least it gives you a taste and allows you to research further.

What does the DMV have to do with it? Plus, law enforcement agencies aren't going to give away how they find people. There are dozens of ways to find people. I have to agree with you that WRAL doesn't do investigative journalism.

kmichael - That was my question too. Did he disappear and they just now located him?

Again, an incomplete story on wral.com. How did authorities track him down? What is his driving record here in NC? How long has he lived here? Why didn't the two DMVs interact to catch him earlier? Does anyone at WRAL believe in investigative journalism?
