Wake Forest fire part of fire department training

— The Wake Forest Fire Department used an abandoned building off of N.C. Highway 98 for the site of a training exercise on Wednesday.

The building near the intersection of Highway 98 and Capital Boulevard was set on fire to help recruits practice their fire fighting skills, the department said.

    I'll betcha that you will be dang happy they are training all the time, when your house starts a' burnin, or your car runs off the road, or when you are choking at a restaurant, or when your cat gets stuck in a tree, or your kid's skateboard drops into a storm drain, or when you smell a weird gas-smell in your house, or when your granny can't change her smoke alarm battery and she calls the FD to help her, or when you lock your child inside your vehicle--with your keys inside too, or-or-or...

    They use several buildings in the area. I see them training all the time and it's obvious to me they're training. I'm trying to figure out why this is news-worthy.

    Glad to know it was a training exercise...The smoke I could see from down the street was huge!
