— Four homes in the Highgate subdivision have been broken into in the last two weeks, police said.

The most recent burglary occurred Tuesday morning at 113 Highgate Circle, police said. The victims told police they left home at 10 a.m., and when they returned at about 11:20 a.m., they found that someone had broken in through a side door and stole several items before fleeing.

A police K-9 helped recover some of the stolen property, police said.

Police have no suspects in the burglaries. Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to call the Wake Forest Police Department at 919-554-6150.

Police ask that residents keep doors, windows and garages locked and to report any suspicious activity or vehicles in their neighborhood.

A co-worker has a home security camera that he can view from work. He also had a dog. Someone comes to his door, hears the dog, and leaves. The house next door to him was robbed. They had no dog. The LEO caught the robber based on the video.

IF YOU SPEND THE APPROPRIATE TIME IN TRAINING A DOG IT WILL NOT BE DESTRUCTIVE TO YOUR HOME. AND A SECURITY SYSTEM CAN NOT LOVE YOU UNCONDITIONALLY. WHAT A SECURITY SYSTEM CAN DO IS MAKE NOISE WHILE BURGULARS CONTINUE TO PLUNDER YOUR HOME. SORRY, BUT IF YOU LOOK AT THE STATS, SECURITY SYSTEMS ARENT VERY MUCH OF A DETERRENT, AND THEY RARELY LEAD TO AN ARREST EITHER. A DOG IS 5 TIMES MORE EFFECTIVE.

A security system is not destructive to your home and doesn't have to be walked on cold, rainy days.

buy a pit bull and leave it loose in the house when you are not there...make sure there is a window that can be seen in so that the dog will be visible if someone knocks. no one will break in with that dog in there. unless, you have drugs or a whole lot of cash in the house, then they might just go in anyway and shoot your dog. but for the most part, any dog will serve as a tremendous deterrent.

I agree! Now that school is out there are going to be more teens "with nothing to do" out ther looking for a "good time". Parents, PLEASE know where your kids are at all times! This doesn't just apply to Wake Forest, it applies to every town, city location.

School's out! Attention parents of teens in downtown Wake Forest, search your kid's room for stuff that does not belong to him. Report him to the authorities and do everything you can to stop him before he breaks into the wrong house and gets shot.
