Wake Driver Charged After His School Bus Rear-Ends Car

None of the Heritage Middle School students on the bus was hurt. Two people in a car received minor injuries.

WAKE FOREST, N.C. — Police charged a Wake County Public School System bus driver with reckless driving Friday after his bus full of students struck a car in the rear end on Chalk Road.

The Highway Patrol said none of the Heritage Middle School students on the bus was hurt. Two people in the car were taken to a hospital, treated and released within  two hours, officials said.

Troopers cited bus driver Robert Rylander of Wake Forest for reckless driving. They said he had been distracted before the bus struck the car.

The accident occurred at 1037 Chalk Road near Jones Dairy Road.

Officials initially had reported that the but carried no students, saying it had just dropped off students at Jones Dairy Elementary School.
