Wow. These charges seem somewhat well over the top.

Don't they realize "Assault on a Government Official" should be a sport and not illegal?

Please read the article before speaking. It makes you look uneducated. The case was handled by the Wake County Sheriffs Department, not RPD. It was clearly stated in the article. Did RPD recently give you a ticket or do something else to cause you to publicly criticize them for something they did not do?

saturn 5- Wake County Sheriff's Dept arrested the guy. RPD has no jurisdiction outside the city limits. Criticize all you want, but sometimes it's best to get the facts straight.

Over-charging like this just makes the Police/Magistrate/DA seem more dense than normal.

I got shot twice by my little brother with a BB gun when I was growing up. The sheriff in our house (Mom) put his gun on top of the refrigerator for a week. Such sweet revenge when he could not play with it for a week!

This man will end up pulling more time for shotting a BB gun than most child molester........ Give me a break......

There is a LOT more to this story...I hope. I mean, really? "Non-life threatening injury"- DUH!! it was a BB gun. Deadly weapon? Only if he was trying to beat the guy to death with the gun itself. We used to shoot each other with BBs all the time as kids- of course we heard the same thing as A Christmas Story- the whole shoot your eye out thing. Me thinks the charges might be reduced a bit by trial.

Deadly weapon? Intent to kill? For a BB gun?
And the other day I read someone was shot - WITH A BULLET - and the shooter was only charged with firing into an automobile. Way to go, RPD.

At least he didn't shoot his eye out!!!! :)
